2016 Foremothers’ Prize Awarded to Jenny Bledsoe

BledsoesmallThe SMFS advisory board is delighted to announce the winner of the 2016 Foremothers’ Prize, funded by the generous gift of royalties from the editors, Judith Bennett and Ruth Mazzo Karras, and the contributing authors of the Oxford Handbook of Women and Gender in Medieval Europe. The awardee, Jenny Bledsoe, a PhD candidate at Emory University, is studying the use of the Katherine Group manuscripts in the material culture of late medieval England. She will use the award to finance travel to the UK to conduct manuscript research at the British Library and the National Library of Wales.

The field of applicants was particularly strong this year, and we would like to thank all those who applied.

Congratulations, Jenny!
